Just got another tripod today a Velbon Sherpa 600R. We use it at work, and it's really a nice tripod. It's no where as solid as my old top man retro tripod, but at least it's lighter.
Today's shot is of my No.1 guitar. It's a 1972 Stratocaster, Candy apple red, with Custom shop Texas Special pick-ups. My Dad gave it to me about 20 years ago, before that, I think he bought it from some studio going out of business, for $200.

Injured arm today, so my movements are fairly restricted. Even setting up a tripod was a big call. Anyway I made use of a fairly broad kitchen bench and took this shot with available light. The backlighting you see here is from the big glass doors at my place.
Anyway this is a jar of wasabe peas. And I've got to admit they are a killer - I mean really hot, tears in your eyes hot... but oh so yummy. I bought them for the world cup, but really can't seem to get more than a small handful in each time before the brain goes into overload and the eyes seem like they are about to explode... but they are oh so yummy.

Hard Rock Cafe - Carole King
It's Independence Day, so I thought I'd do a little tribute shot.

Orange Crush - REM
Seems these days everyone wants to be a vampire.
Today's shot was touched up in with orange lipstick to celebrate Holland's win over Brazil. Who would have thunk it.
Go the orange army!

Work It - Missy Elliot
Quick post today, or rather a day later. This is of the front of the office where I work - Ego Pharmaceuticals.
Needed a facade shot today so I went out and got this just moments before it poured. The cars in the front were annoying me so I crouched behind this bush and used them obscure to the annoyance. I think it worked out well in the end. Besos baby.

Hazy Shade of Winter - Simon and Garfunkel
Had dinner with an old boss and good friend tonight down in South Melbourne. We were just shooting the breeze and yada yada. Great food, this place called Garamerica.
Before you start pronouncing it as GAR-AMERICA, be advised that it is an Indonesian restaurant and hence the name should mean something in Indonesian. Well the first time I saw this place, I thought it was a strange name for an Indonesian restaurant. Even with my limited knowledge of the language, I still knew that it meant nothing. Anyway weeks later, an Indonesian colleague of mine set the record straight and told me that it was pronounced GARAM-MERI-CHA, as in salt and pepper (in Indonesian). Man was I embarrassed. I should have known the first time I saw the name, but then again isn't that why the space bar was invented!
Anyway today's shot is just next to the said restaurant. In the background is the facade of an old church that has now become retail space for rugs. What was interesting though was how the street lights just emphasised the tree in the foreground and the few leaves left on the branches. I decided to emphasise the colours a bit more by placing the background in black and white and leaving the foreground in it's original colour. Till tomorrow then.

In between the really cold and gloomy morning and the freezing evening today there was a 2 hour window where the sun came out. The clouds looked like they were straight off a cell from The Simpsons, and I was outdoors with camera in hand.
Back to today's shot. It's of this guy shooting clay targets. The why, where and when of this will have to be kept mum, but it sure looks like lots of fun. Did a little tilt shift on photoshop, and if you look closely enough you can see the clay pigeon just to the left of frame.
