DAY 118. 28/4/11
Dust My Broom - Robert Johnson
You know it's autumn by the changing of the weather, sometimes you can even smell Autumn upon us, but really nothing says autumn like fallen leaves... just don't want to be the guy who has to sweep it all up. More tomorrow.

DAY 117. 27/4/11
Staring At The Sun - U2
Been trying to get the lens flare shot for a while. And I think I got it today.
A bit tired from football, so this is going to be short... just a bit of HDR to bring out the detail of the cars, but the sun's the star (corny... I know). More tomorrow.
DAY 116. 26/4/11
Someday - John Legend
At the John Legend concert tonight. And as most venues won't let you bring in a DSLR, I had to do today's shot with a compact... so excuse the blurry photo.
Took this right at the end of the night. And you see those raised hands in front? Well everyone from row j seat 22 and behind had to put up with that the whole night. Whether seated or standing, there go the arms... it's like gravity had no effect on those arms. Still it was a great concert and I'm just venting. More tomorrow.

DAY 115. 25/4/11
Early post today. As you can see, we went out for a bit of tennis today. Heaps of action shots and most were pretty cool. This however was the last shot of the day, and for obvious reasons! More tomorrow.
DAY 114. 24/4/11
Realising that I hadn't taken any shots today, I went walkabout and this is what I took.
Parked on the street is this cherry picker that looks like it came out of Transformers or for those that remember Moonraker. A bit of HDR for that body and tire texture and I also tried starving the picture of colour, bar about 10%. More tomorrow.

DAY 113. 23/4/11
How to save a life - The Fray
Didn't do much shooting today. In fact didn't do much of anything today other than some clean up. So here's one from last night, at the bar, after the movies.
Just 2 people in deep conversation. Not much by way of lighting, so excuse the noise with the ISO pumped up and HDR applied. More tomorrow.
DAY 112. 22/4/11
Been to the cinema two days in a row. Now, before that my last cinema experience was close to 3 years ago. Not that I don't like the movies, it's just that I have other ways of watching my movie.
Anyway, here's today's shot, it's one of the humungous lighting fixture at the cinema/casino. More tomorrow.

DAY 111. 21/4/11
So What - Pink
Sometimes you just have to look like you know what you're doing to sell it. So here's Fifi doing her best rock god pose. More tomorrow.

DAY 110. 20/4/11
When I took this shot today, it was at the end of one of those crazy rain storms. The kind that buckets down with a vengeance, the kind that leaves many a driver blind bar a few metres in front, the kind that is a recipe for disaster.
But a few minutes before the shot, the car in front of me got side swiped because the driver on the other side couldn't see the red light or just wasn't paying extra attention. This being Melbourne however, meant that just as quickly as the rains came, it went away.
Took this with the trusty dashpod, HDR'd for that lovely wet road texture and just glad I got home in one piece to post this. More tomorrow.

DAY 108. 18/4/11
It's been a couple of days since the guitar was used (Friday night.. so a little more than a couple), and I still haven't put it away. So while unpacking, I decided to take a shot.
Too lazy to set the lights up, so I cranked up the ISO, laid on the ground and snapped. More tomorrow.

DAY 107. 17/4/11
Leaving On A Jet Plane - Janis Joplin
So ends my Mom's 5 week holiday in Melbourne (with a 10 day sojourn to Queensland).
Took this (it's not the actual plane) because I thought it was really cool to see the plane letting off some steam? Or doing whatever it is it's doing. A bit of HDR for the clouds. More tomorrow.
DAY 106. 16/4/11
Took this down in South Melbourne today. Glorious day, beautiful blue skies and just the perfect time to be walking about in the quaintest neighbourhood in the whole world.
Whacked on HDR to get that road and clouds going. More tomorrow.

DAY 105. 16/4/11
Don't Look Back - Boston.
Couple of things to get through today.
1) The shot is from a day or 2 ago. Everything I shot today was no "fun", and when I had the opportunity to shoot a band playing, I turn on my camera and the dreaded words "No Card" appeared. Not carrying my camera bag, just the camera today, meant that I could not shoot anything at the performance! You would think that I would have learnt that little detail of always checking that the card is in the camera.... but no!
2) Had a couple of comments today that I was betting lazy not linking my posts to any song, but just doing a "suitable" caption. So here we go, a song link (this applies more to the blog than anywhere else. Well at least the blog is being read, so I can't complain.
3) Well there is not so much of a number three other than ?I could have set a shot at home and whacked on the flashes and stuff, but it's late, I'm sleepy and far to lazy to bother.
4) More tomorrow.

DAY 104. 14/4/11
Late last year I won a jar a jellybeans containing 1649 jellybeans. I guessed the exact number and got it right, so I won. But really the real winner is Fifi. She claims to have gone through at least 2/3 of the jar.
Anyway, that was 1649 Jellybeans ago. Today I filled the jar with another stash (bought not won, this time) and here we go, the first person to attack the jellybeans... Fifi.
HDR to bring out the detail in the hair and I kind of rid to starve the image of colour less the Jellybeans and the painted nails. More Tomorrow.

DAY 103. 13/4/11
Down at Docklands today and that monstrosity that was once a ferris wheel is still yet to be dismantled. Looks like a wireframe AtAt Walker or something from War of the worlds, which suddenly has made it a lot more appealing than it ever was.
Decided to go black and white, because I hadn't done a B&W in more than a week, and I did say I was going to do one every week. Anyway here it is. More tomorrow.
Tuesday, April 12, 2011
DAY 102. 12/4/11
Got to make this a quick one today. Here's today's shot. A bit of a change in format, but I think it's warranted for in this case. More tomorrow.
Monday, April 11, 2011
DAY 101. 11/4/11
Not overtly happy with today's shot. It's another dashpod do, but it's missing all the lens flare dramatics that I was hoping to capture at that moment.
That's the Spirt of Tasmania in the back there that ferries people from Melbourne to Tasmaina (duh). More tomorrow.
Sunday, April 10, 2011
DAY 100. 10/4/11
Out in South Melbourne today and saw this lovely retro chic scooter... and in a beautiful red as well.
Lighting courtesy of the late afternoon sun and HDR to bring out the textures of the metal and road. More tomorrow.
DAY 099. 9/4/11
Just back from a very good party. The birthday boy in question is this guy... Chi. Here's him slightly inebriated and dancing.
Sleepy now, so it's time to say good night. More tomorrow.
Friday, April 8, 2011
DAY 098. 8/4/11
This is the view from my office window. It's autumn and that tree outside is a beautiful blood red.
Bathed in sunlight today, the tree (I was told the name, but I've since forgotten it) was really a nice distraction, even just for a few minutes.
A bit of HDR to bring out the sharpness of the leaves (I did shoot this through a slightly murky window). More tomorrow.
Thursday, April 7, 2011
DAY 097. 7/4/11
Another dashpod shot. Took this as the sun was just setting in the horizon. The big ball of light (aka the sun), was smack at eye level and it was blinding, if not completely outstanding to look at. Didn't have my polariser so, the next best was the windscreens of the car in front. Maybe, I'll catch a fuller picture of it soon. Just have to time my journey home right. More tomorrow.
Wednesday, April 6, 2011
DAY 096. 6/4/11
Got a new shag pile carpet (white nonetheless) been thinking of getting it on camera, but couldn't think of how. Anyway, I eventually put my tripod on the carpet and tried to get HDR to bring out the textures of the carpet and the aluminium. Bokeh courtesy of the lights from St Kilda Road.
DAY 095. 5/4/11
Very late posting today... no excuses, just lazy and fell asleep.
Well I took this of the "top" shelf of a bar, and although I was going to write something about the quality of the drinks being better on the upper shelves, I thought hearing those 4 words (Drinks on the house) was always going to be more appealing. More tomorrow.
Monday, April 4, 2011
DAY 094. 4/4/11
Another shot from the trusty dashpod. It was grey all day and I was hoping for an equally cloudy sky on my drive back. I was hoping because I love how HDR captures a cloudy grey sky, and here you go almost exactly the sky I was hoping for. More tomorrow.
Sunday, April 3, 2011
DAY 093. 3/4/11
More from last night. Here's the main guitarist (there were 2 lead guitarists) from the blues band (I never got the name of the band).
Left handed strat playing blues (thinking Hendrix anyone?) Great showmanship and really nice tone. All in all, it makes for a great night out.
Took this with my 50mm at 800 iso (I really don't like pushing the iso further than 400 on my Sony, but without my flashgun, I had very little options). Did some HDR (I really don't know why I say that everyday, I always apply HDR). More tomorrow.
Out at my cousin's birthday party tonight. Nice little place in Fitzroy with a blues band, cocktails and captured here, the only 2 people dancing. More tomorrow.
Friday, April 1, 2011
DAY 091. 1/4/11
Shot of Melbourne at night, and this is Swanston Street as well. Took this on the drive back did a touch of HDR just to bring out all that texture. More tomorrow.
