Out in the city today for work. A nice change from being in our usual location. Took this on my walk back to the car.

Last day of the holidays before I fly back to Melbourne, and it was a scorcher! 40+ degrees!
Anyway, was trying to get a shot of some birds taking refuge from the heat in the mango tree, but they hightailed it the moment I got close.
So here's a shot of the mangoes then. Legend has it that they are sweet and succulent when ripe, however, I've never been around to try a ripe one. So the best I can do is get a shot of it. More tomorrow.

This happens every year... I get up early for the new year's test (cricket), knowing that it's never on new year's day but the day after... or is it? It isn't because it's on the 3rd! Ahh the problems I have while on holiday!
OK on to today's shot... a cricket. Saw this little fella basking in the sun, so I decided to get down low and got the shot. More tomorrow.

Happy new year. Here's the first one for the year. Almost forgot what starting another one of these entailed. Apart from the hour or so at night before bed, there's all these admin stuff that needs to be sorted out. Anyway, it's all done. Took this shot at the Perth International Airport... a very interesting X'mas tree that stands about 2 stories high. This is probably just half the height. More tomorrow.

That's it for the year, and I can't believe it's been 3 years now. I'll probably keep doing this for another year, because I love it, but maybe not as regimented as I've been for the past 1,096 days. Meaning I'll let myself get some off days in the coming year.
Again, without the inspiration of Dustin Diaz and many of my Flickr friends and my photography junky buddies, these 3 years would not have been possible.
Also thanks to Sony for making a kickass camera, the Alpha 99, you took your time, but it was worth it... now can I get free stuff?
But most of all thinks to everyone that's come through and looked at my photos each day. I hope you'd enjoyed it as much as I have posting them.
On to the last photo of the year. I've really been waiting to try this out for a few months now. I set the camera to 1 sec and fired the flash followed by a bit of camera shake, just to get those lights going all over the place. I really happy how this one turned out. More tomorrow. And Happy New Year!
Strobist info: HVL F60AM at 1/2 power with a diffuser from about 4 feet away from the congas camera left bouncing off the back wall another 4 feet away. The rest is all thanks to camera shake.
