Here's a view of Melbourne city and the Yarra that few can claim to have seen before. And even those that can claim it, may not be too forthcoming with the knowledge.

You see this is the view from the 8th floor of the just moved police station at the World Trade Centre. More tomorrow.

It's the eve of eve of Chinese New Year, and just thinking about all the fun, food and frivolity that is about to happen in many households across the world. I on the other hand, spent eve of eve of Chinese New Year playing guitar with guys from work. And that was fun, even if my fingers are a bit sore right now.

Anyway, here's the reverse view of yesterday's post, the whatever that is at Birrarung Marr. More tomorrow.

End of the Australia Day long weekend :( It's been pretty eventful, but alas all good things...

Took this at the start of the long weekend. Just a quick visit to the "tattooed one" as she tries to decide if that material sample on her lap is her colour. More tomorrow.

Happy Australia Day all. As the day fades, I have a lot to be thankful for. I'm so grateful my parents decided to take that leap to move to this country some 27 odd years ago. And for all of the great things that this beautiful country has provided for me, friends, family, opportunities and life in general. On'ya Straya! More tomorrow.

OK this will definitely, quite possibly be the last image of Eugenie Bouchard. I do have quite a few more in my archives, so never say never. More tomorrow.

Just taking a little break from tennis photos... also, having to wade through several thousand photos is going to take a little more than one night.

So here's something from work today. A quick shot of Lauren with boxing gloves... Why? That's a another long story. More tomorrow.

Strobist info: Elinchrom DLite 4's. One with a 45" soft box from above and about 4 feet in front. The other with a 35" soft box about 5 feet away camera left.

Long day at the tennis today, and at center court no less. (Thanks James).

I couldn't decide between Genie Bouchard and Ana Ivanovic, so here they both are. Sad to see Ana go, but Eugenie thoroughly deserved the win... great tennis match and the hotness level on court... out of this world! More tomorrow.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting Ms Bouchard. More tomorrow.

Ladies and Gentlemen... Daniela Hantuchova.

Quite a few shots to choose from for today, but I'll save it for another day. Spent most of the day and night at the tennis in perfect weather, so it's chill time before bedtime for me now. More tomorrow.

Another day of the heatwave. It was hot enough for the organisers of the Australian Open to suspend play in the outside courts.

So here's another one from the Open... Will be making the trip to the tennis again tomorrow, hopefully the cool change comes in by the time I get there. More tomorrow

More from the tennis, and yet another scorcher of a day, and word is it's going to be another 40+ degrees tomorrow.

I don't know how they do it playing in the extreme heat... Here's another one I can't remember the name of. More tomorrow.

First day back at work, I actually believed time stood still today. I was also nursing a slight fever and congested chest.

So I ended up at the Whiskey and Aliment tonight, the perfect tonic to try and get rid of this cough and cold. It was almost perfect, to have a couple of fine single malts, along with the company of old friends... shame there were no dancing girls... More tomorrow.

It's been one of the best Christmas holidays ever, with family and friends and food and drinks and parties and football and cricket and.... you get the picture. More tomorrow from the first day of work.

Out in the wine country today for a catchup with an old friend. We had lunch at this little winery after a few margaritas. Was a really fun day, albeit in almost 40 degree heat. So the cool restaurant provided us with a small respite from the heat.

Was playing around with my new toy camera, the Sony QX10 and this shot pop up while I was going through the shots tonight. Also took some shots of the vineyards along the way, but figured once you've seen one... More tomorrow.

The really cool thing about this summer in perth has been the weather. I can't recall a summer when it's been this cool around Christmas and the new year. And the sky is perpetually cloudless and blue. Let's hope it holds out for another few more days while I'm here... mind you I did overhear that Monday is going to be a scorcher... oh well, the honeymoon had to end at some stage.

Took this shot of the antenna with a couple of doves and the moon still in the day sky... I did have to use HDR to get the moon to stand out a bit more, but it still worked out well enough. More tomorrow.

The really great thing about being in Perth is the night sky. On most clear nights, the stars are as numerous as they are brilliant.

I tried to capture it tonight without a tripod (it seems to have grown legs and taken a walk), so an improvised wine box perched on an angle with the help of a pack of smokes had to be the next best thing. More tomorrow.

We begin the year with a shot from the previous year. It was a no brainer to choose this simply because today was the little man's last day with us. As I write this, he's probably somewhere over the middle of Australia on his way home. It's going to be a very quite house tomorrow morning, and just that little bit sadder. We already miss you Owen.

Will take more shots from this year in the morning. More tomorrow.

Happy New Year everyone. Managed to make it out of the house whilst preparing for the party to take a few shots (340+) of Owen playing in the garden. Like his Aunty in the background, he sure has some attitude.

So that brings me to an end of another 365. Will probably do another one in the new year... I'm having too much fun to stop.

Thanks has to go to the makers of my favourite Camera, the alpha 99, Sony; all the people that have been in my shots for the year, you may or may not know who you are, but thanks nevertheless. Of course Dustin Dias for his spark (great to see him back on Flickr, BTW). Guy Gowan for enlightening us with his processing knowledge and all the photographers out there who've been an inspiration. Here's to another year of 365.

Bring on Year 5 and More tomorrow.
