365 - 30/12/12
2nd last day of the year. Spent most of the day avoiding the heat outside and then the evening playing football in the heat. Anyway, thought I'd post this shot from a week ago, it's Christmas eve this time and all the kids are just waiting for the clock to tick over to midnight, so that they can open their presents. You could call this the calm before the storm. More tomorrow.

364 - 29/12/12
It's only a few more days to the end of another year, and that usually means the yearly card game at the Grosse's. Thanks guys for the hospitality and thanks Damo for taking our money. More tomorrow.

363 - 28/12/12
The obligatory shot of my dad's flowers. Again I can't recall the particular species of flower, but still it looks pretty cool blossoming in the hot Perth sun. More tomorrow.

362 - 27/12/12
Happy Birthday young Owen. My cousin gave birth today to a baby boy and we're over the moon... so to speak. Congrats Tasha and Ryan. More tomorrow.

361 - 26/12/12
Playing around with the flash and long exposure (about 1 second) and camera movement.
Dad got these LED garden lights in the shape of butterflies. A bit tacky I thought at first, but they do make for a good photo subject. More tomorrow.

360 - 25/12/12
Merry Christmas everyone. Here's a shot of my nephew and niece on their way home from an visit. All I can say is thankfully I'm not on the road when he takes the wheel... Just kidding Jean Paul! More tomorrow.

359 - 24/12/12
Christmas eve and here's the darling little Ashley waiting to open her presents as the clock struck 12. Sadly she didn't last that long and went off to sleep. But she did wake up in time for the handing out and opening of presents, which soon brought back a smile. More tomorrow and Merry Christmas everyone.

358 - 23/12/12
Playing with droplets this morning. Had the camera set to multi shots and a fresh set of batteries in the flash which was soon to get drained. Really all that was missing was a tripod, which I will get sometime soon for Perth.
Anyway really like this shot just as the droplet falls. More tomorrow.
Strobist info: HVL F60AM on a stand camera right on full about 6 feet away from the droplet.

357 - 22/12/12
A bit of creepy crawly shooting today. I took this insect on the back fence of the house. Really wanted to put a coin or something to show its size, but this unwilling model would not let me even get close before flying off. It is about 15cm in length. More tomorrow.

356 - 21/12/12
As I post this, I'm glad to announce that the end of the world was a hoax, it didn't happen and all is back to normal.
Had our work Christmas party today, and here are just some of the decorations that were on display. Mind you those cardboard trees and reindeer were close to 2 metres high and they were all hand cut without any online template. You could almost say they were bespoke. More tomorrow.

355 - 20/12/12
This will be the last photo of kite sailing for the year, or if the Mayans are right, ever!
Happy eve of the end of the world. More tomorrow.

354 - 19/12/12
Something from yesterday. Shot a bit more video today, and got a few shots of a CPR training session, but really they don't stack up to a posed portrait. More tomorrow.
Strobist Info: HVL F60M handheld with diffuser bounced off the ceiling and camera right.

353 - 18/12/12
Out shooting videos today and got to try out my new Flash unit that also has an LED light built in for video.
Anyway here are the nurses from the skin and cancer foundation that were very good in their bit of the video. Thanks Flor and Candice. More tomorrow.
Strobist Info: HVL F60M with a diffuser handheld camera right bounced off a white ceiling.

351 - 16/12/12
Out doing my Christmas shopping today. It's nice that in between shopping malls, there are some outstanding entertainment with many high quality buskers. Here's one of them, really outstanding dance music with a drummer and violinist. More tomorrow.

350 - 15/12/12
Glorious day of feasting today, and on the menu was satay. And it's the real satay, charcoal fired, 100% authentic and oh so yummy. Here's a close up of one being cooked... thanks Uncle Ricky. More tomorrow.
349 - 14/12/12
Another late night, so here's one from earlier today. I thought it was really interesting work on the sleeve, almost like a wash of brass studs on the cuff and similarly on the collar. Enough fashion talk, time for some sleep. More tomorrow.
Friday, December 14, 2012
348 - 13/12/12
Out tonight. It's late, I'm tired and sometimes it's nights like tonight that I wish I hadn't committed to a shot a day. Still, I've been doing this for 3 years... so how's that saying go? Fool me once... More tomorrow.

347 - 12/12/12
We've been resisting putting up Christmas decorations in the studio, mainly because we're a bunch of lazy so and so's. But along comes the new girl and bam we have fairy light, baubles and streamers all over the studio... very festive indeed.
Here's a shot of the fairy lights with little plastic stars. It's really quite nice. Thanks Mags. More tomorrow.
346 - 11/12/12
More proof of the sweet bokeh my 200mm lens can deliver. Took this a few weeks ago at Fed Square and really like how the guy stands out from the crowd. More tomorrow.
Monday, December 10, 2012
345 - 10/12/12
Took this at about 4 this morning... gorgeous crescent moon just waiting for HDR to bring out the dark side. Really should have set up the 400mm, but this is still pretty cool. More tomorrow.
Sunday, December 9, 2012
344 - 9/12/12
Just a tender moment between mother and chick... notice how I used the word mother instead of identifying the bird... geez I really don't know my geese from swans. More tomorrow.
Saturday, December 8, 2012
343 - 8/12/12
Space where my paintings will be hanged have increased by 100%. Here's Fifi with some of the paintings that she's offered to hang in her place... kind of a semi-permanant loan.
So take good care of them and enjoy. More tomorrow.
342 - 7/12/12
Out for dinner tonight and a little drive around the city. It was a warm night and it seemed like everyone was just hanging out trying to wait out the heat or just enjoying the night before tomorrow's really hot day.
Anyway took this shot of a couple deep in conversation. More tomorrow.

338 - 3/12/12
My cousin and I had plans of doing of doing a shoot with him on his bike going full tilt around a corner. Until then however, this will have to do. More tomorrow.
Sunday, December 2, 2012
337 - 2/12/12
Not exactly super sharp, but I reckon it's sharp enough considering it's a gull in full flight. I thought the 200mm F2.8 is still pretty fast and sharp, and I really do like it. Wondering what other old minolta lenses are out there that are as remarkable as this one. More tomorrow.
Saturday, December 1, 2012
326 - 1/12/12
30 more days to go till I finish year 3. Still contemplating if I'll do a year 4... I probably will. I might have to set new ground rules again, we'll see. Stay tuned.
Went for janaese today. Not from this place with the tepanyakki chef, but a few doors down at a quaint little and a lot less showy Japanese restaurant. I couldn't resist taking a shot of the more showy restaurant though, just wished I'd caught a shot of the burning flames as well. More tomorrow.
