Thought I might introduce you to my number 2 flash - It's a YONGNUO Speedlite YN 460. Got it off eBay for next to nothing about $70 all up. And it comes with a defuser, and a Minolta/Sony hotshoe adapter. Not a bad deal huh?
Anyway, ever since I got this, I've been practicing my 2 light shooting, of course battery permitting.
So there you go... more tomorrow people.

Bit of a tribute day today. Watched the last ever episodes of 24 and... OMG! What a way to end. I can't remember a time without Jack Bauer and CTU in my life, but it's all come to end now.
Did this shot in photoshop, projected it on to m LCD TV screen and took a shot of it. I only took a photo because going straight and by-passing the camera would be contrary to a 365. Besos baby.

Am loving my kitchen bench a lot this weekend. It's been the source for my 365, the place where I paint, eat... whatelse can one do on the kitchen bench?
Strobist info: Bare flash at 12 o'clock on full power 8 feet away. Diffused flash at 9 o'clock on 1/2 power at 4 feet away.

Went shopping tonight and got some stuff. I don't really like doing food shots, but the reflection of the kitchen bench was too alluring not to take the shot.
Strobist info: 1/2 power Flash with diffuser camera right about 3 feet away and 1/4 power flash from the back about 2 feet behind and below the bench top.

Today's shot was an exercise in trying to emulate daylight. I set 2 flashes bare outside the glass doors and had the blinds down. I also had the room lights on and a 40 inch LCD TV set on white just behind the camera. And guess what? 17 shot later this is the result... It's that or I could have waited till the morning.
BTW this is a "Takraw" ball. The game itself is like volleyball, except that it uses a rattan ball and only allows players to use their feet, knee, chest and head to touch the ball. This example is a plastic version of the rattan ball.

Took this leaving a building tonight. It's this massive brass sculpture in a middle of a water feature. It looks pretty impressive, a little opulent and whole lot of Eurothashy looking.
Anyway, just set this on 30 second at F16 and let the ambient light do the rest. See you tomorrow.

Finally got round to unpacking my guitars and putting it onto the rack. I love it very much. Just a quick roll call from right to left: The home made lap steel in it's case; The Pignose; The Steinberger headless bass; My 69 keys USB keyboard; Handmade Nylon Classical with cutaway; Takamine Acoustic with bigsby and fishman transducers; '72 Fender Stratocaster; and the newest member of the family, My Epiphone Les Paul Custom.
Really all that's missing are a telecastor custom circa 1972, a kickass Ibanez with a floating/locking trem, maybe a Gretsch and an upright bass... and maybe a Precision.
That's it for today. I'll catch you tomorrow then.

This lens has probably taken the bulk of my 365 shots. just did a blog search and it actually accounts for 46% of all my shots to date. A while ago, I mentioned about the Rokkor 50mm F1.4 I bought. Built like a tank and really sharp. I flirted with it for a while and then went back to this lens beause of its reliability. Not that the Rokkor was bad or anything, it's just that it was a manual lens, and sometimes there was just too much screwing around.
Today's shot is of my trusty 50mm F1.7 taken by new Auto Focus 50mm F1.4. Call me crazy but that one F-stop down is like opening up a whole new world to me... I love it.
Anyway enough lens talk. More tomorrow.

Balcony shot. Great to wake up to this view everyday. Anyway check out the little plane just off centre. Just used a blue filter to really bring out the colour of the bay, lake and sky.

Got my New (used) Mionlta Auto Focus 50mm F1.4 lens today!!! Woohoo! Love the depth of field... Actually I still haven't taken enough pictures to truly appreciate the difference, but I can't wait.
Note to self.
1) Clean keyboard before taking a shot. 2) My eyesight really sucks. Notice the difference between the right and left lenses. The left is near perfect, but the right is closer to a coke bottle!

Revisiting my MOLESKINE again today. Here's a bit of photoshop work to round off the day. Took the picture of red lanterns on a tree a few months ago, and just placed it on the page with a bit of texture mapping.
If only my sketches actually came out like that!

Just playing around with a new flash I bought, so this is taken with 2 flashes. One from Camera left and another from behind the tubes.
BTW, these are tubes for Hairscience which is made by Ego Pharmaceuticals. My sister swears by them and many a hairdresser has been amazed at the hair texture of other people I've got to start using them.
These tubes have a lovely pearl finish to them and the labels had been scraped off for use as a mock up for another product. Still I love the milky look of the tubes and decided to shoot it.
Oh and the bokeh background was from another shot I took months back, photoshop did the rest. More tomorrow.

Another shot from Sydney. We went to this place called Bazaar Beer Cafe and had a few beers and a pork knuckle just before the wedding party in the evening. It was a really charming place, nice beer, good food and some of the hottest looking barstaff around.
Anyway, we were talking about the word Bazaar. We know it means market and found it curious that it sounds very close to the Chinese word with the same meaning - "Pa Sah", and if I'm not wrong, even the Malay term for market sounds very similar "Pasak". It wasn't the beer talking, at least I don't think it was. A wikipedia search pulled up even more info. Anyway, we came to the conclusion that it must have been passed through the silk road and thus the similarities. OK that's it for me today.
