Ride The Lightning - Metallica
Stuck in traffic with nothing but the radio and a camera in hand, well you know I'm going to be taking some shots.
Took this in front of the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) where they are having the European Masters Exhibition and I think they've really outdone themselves with the names of the artist in lights stretched from ground to roof. It's really something to behold. It's a shame I only had my 50mm with me. HDR this to try and get the wall to pop. More Tomorrow.

Another walkabout Southbank shot. Well not so much of a walkabout than a walk to the shops to get smokes and then a walk across the street to get the shot.
Anyway, decided to play with the tilt shift effect so here goes. Really like how the cars and trees look almost toy like.
BTW, this is the Malthouse Theatre, a little quaint venue, I believe, because for the 4 and a bit years I lived next to it, I've been there 3 times and I never got further than the bar.
Have a nice night. See you tomorrow.

Here's a shot from my walk back from Fed Square. There's something sinister about how the moon just hangs over the Eureka Tower. Ghostbusters just comes to mind when I shot this. More tomorrow.

Today was supposed to be the day we were fully moved into our new place. The storm kind of ruined that, but blah lah blah.
OK today's shot, yet another sunset from the balcony. I like the colours and love the shape of the clouds. I also like the specks of street lights and the Merc insignia lighted in the corner.
I did have another photo lined up, but alas I left it at the office. Might post it tomorrow, depending on how it all goes with the shot of the day. Tomorrow friends.

Nursing some tired eyes and a niggling headache from the night before (a 4am sleep), I turned to another old favourite to shoot. A view from my balcony.
Today's shot was taken at about half an hour after sunset, so the skies had a real interesting hue. Set my 28mm to f3.2, and let it open for about 10sec. I like how it managed to capture the stars in the sky, even though it was a cloudy evening. In any case I can count four stars, so that was a bonus, when I was really hoping to get that one next to the text in the shot.

I couldn't resist. The eeriness of the night sky and there sitting in bold white letters...
Was a bit pressed for time today (blame 2 new episodes of 24 and Heroes for that, that and having to pick up my car from the workshop... I know ... excuses excuses), so it was back to taking a shot off the balcony, this time it's the other side. See here, here and here in my Not 365 for shots that almost made it . Also used my beautiful beercan lens for this.

Here's me trying to do the bokeh thing and playing with gels on the flash and white balances. Quite a bit of fun there. Here's the one I like best.
So here are my paint brushes, nothing fancy, no sable or horse hairs going on here, but nonetheless these 10 brushes see me through week in week out, so I love them long time. That's it for today. Would love some ides for tomorrow.

Talk about the 11th hour. Pressed for time and inspiration, here's what I came up with for today's 365. Didn't have to travel far... this is the view from my balcony. Just sat my camera on my solid-Topman-made-in-Japan-ancient tripod and let it open for about 15 seconds.
I know it seems a bit lazy, but I did try other shots today, but was having a bad flash day. More tomorrow, good night.

This is the reflection of the sky from the big stainless steel sign of the ACCA (that's the Australian Center for Contemporary Arts... shouldn't that be ACFCA). It's actually only a stones throw from where I live, and I must say it is an impressive structure. It's a wonder that I don't have a bagful of photos from that place, considering that it's a favourite site for fashion and wedding shots, and even a Bollywood movie.
The only reason I took this shot today was because I had to take public transport to work today and the walk back from the train station takes me past the ACCA. Why I had to take public transport is a whole other story.
Anyway here and here are other shots that didn't make today's cut, but I still fancy them enough.
