Here's a view of Melbourne city and the Yarra that few can claim to have seen before. And even those that can claim it, may not be too forthcoming with the knowledge.
You see this is the view from the 8th floor of the just moved police station at the World Trade Centre. More tomorrow.

It's the eve of eve of Chinese New Year, and just thinking about all the fun, food and frivolity that is about to happen in many households across the world. I on the other hand, spent eve of eve of Chinese New Year playing guitar with guys from work. And that was fun, even if my fingers are a bit sore right now.
Anyway, here's the reverse view of yesterday's post, the whatever that is at Birrarung Marr. More tomorrow.

Strobist info: Elinchrom DLite 4's. One with a 45" soft box from above and about 4 feet in front. The other with a 35" soft box about 5 feet away camera left.

Out in the wine country today for a catchup with an old friend. We had lunch at this little winery after a few margaritas. Was a really fun day, albeit in almost 40 degree heat. So the cool restaurant provided us with a small respite from the heat.

The really cool thing about this summer in perth has been the weather. I can't recall a summer when it's been this cool around Christmas and the new year. And the sky is perpetually cloudless and blue. Let's hope it holds out for another few more days while I'm here... mind you I did overhear that Monday is going to be a scorcher... oh well, the honeymoon had to end at some stage.
Took this shot of the antenna with a couple of doves and the moon still in the day sky... I did have to use HDR to get the moon to stand out a bit more, but it still worked out well enough. More tomorrow.

The really great thing about being in Perth is the night sky. On most clear nights, the stars are as numerous as they are brilliant.
I tried to capture it tonight without a tripod (it seems to have grown legs and taken a walk), so an improvised wine box perched on an angle with the help of a pack of smokes had to be the next best thing. More tomorrow.

Happy New Year everyone. Managed to make it out of the house whilst preparing for the party to take a few shots (340+) of Owen playing in the garden. Like his Aunty in the background, he sure has some attitude.
So that brings me to an end of another 365. Will probably do another one in the new year... I'm having too much fun to stop.
Thanks has to go to the makers of my favourite Camera, the alpha 99, Sony; all the people that have been in my shots for the year, you may or may not know who you are, but thanks nevertheless. Of course Dustin Dias for his spark (great to see him back on Flickr, BTW). Guy Gowan for enlightening us with his processing knowledge and all the photographers out there who've been an inspiration. Here's to another year of 365.
Bring on Year 5 and More tomorrow.
